Adidas-predator-X-yellowWhat do David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Robin Van Persie and Zinedane Zidane all have in common apart from soccer talent so extraordinary it takes your breath away? They have all, at various points in their illustrious careers, worn Adidas Predator soccer cleats onto the pitch.

The Adidas Predator line was first introduced by the German sportswear giant in 1994, when the original Adidas Predator hit the market. Since then there have been eleven different and constantly upgraded versions of the popular soccer cleat created, each becoming a best seller within weeks of its official release.

Although the technology incorporated into the various Adidas Predator styles had changed a great deal over the last decade and a half all of the Adidas Predators have had one factor in common. Dating right back to those first Adidas Predator soccer cleats (which were heavily promoted by a very young David Beckham) there have been rubber strips affixed to the upper of the Adidas Predator designed to increase ball speed.

With the introduction of the Adidas Predator x in late 2009 the company introduces a whole new slew of technology designed to enhance a player's game. These soccer cleats were the first to feature Adidas' Powerspine technology and were the first Adidas Predator soccer cleat to remove the tongue.

When the Adidas Predator was first introduced it only came in the traditional black and white colorway. Boy have things changed since then. Now Adidas Predators are available in all kinds of different colors, including the option to pick your own via Mi Adidas, an option that Steven Gerrard opted for by choosing his Adidas Predators in Black/Gold/Red.
