The Puma King is another of the classics in the world of soccer cleats that have stood the test of time and are considered to be a true “player's soccer cleat”. Although many professional soccer players do wear the Puma King the lack of obvious celebrity endorsement has seen the Puma King fall of the radar a little, at least in terms of public awareness.

The Puma King has changed very little over all the years it has been available. It remains a distinctive black boot with contrasting white side panels and tongue., giving the Puma King a clean, striking look. Recently the Puma King has become available in white/red and silver/black colorways but the original black/white remains the popular standard.

The Puma King's upper is made from very thin Pittards leather that serve to make them both very lightweight and extremely comfortable right out of the box. The Puma King's DuoFlex sole is designed to bend only where the foot should naturally flex to prevent stress injury to the foot. The Puma King is generally considered to be relatively narrow in fit the lacing system remains a straight front lacing one.

All three of the basic Puma King sole styles currently available - the Puma King FG, the Puma King Pro and the Puma King SL Di Mixsole – feature screw in studs rather then the bladed soles that are so heavily featured on other soccer cleat brands. Each different sole has a standard 6 screw-in stud arrangement, but also comes with additional rubber studs that can be added to enhance pressure distribution on firmer surfaces.
